Gamr Africa was established a year ago with a mission to nurture and advance gaming culture and eSports in Africa and the world. We are solidly number one in Africa with a very high ceiling still. We have actively helped the gaming ecosystem flourish by providing the platform for competitive tournaments and investing in tomorrow’s pro players.
In line with this, Gamr took the first step and made Nigeria a part of the much larger esports community with what is now arguably Africa’s foremost competitive gaming festival, GamrX.
GamrX was an event that was crowned with great knockouts, takedowns, counterattacks, and finishes that will definitely live long in the hearts of those present. As expected, the winners of the different tournaments were from different countries with Tanzania winning the FIFA22, Cote D’ Ivoire winning the Streetfighter battle and Nigeria winning the Call of Duty battle.
A cash prize pool of $15,000 was on the line as esports players from 10 countries converged at the Eko Convention Center in Lagos, Nigeria to compete against each other in FIFA22, Mortal Kombat 11, PUBG Mobile, Call of Duty Mobile, and Red Bull Kumite featuring Streetfighter.
There were several qualifying rounds held across the participating nations which included Cote d’ Ivoire, Tanzania, Benin Republic, Ghana, Kenya, Cameroon, Senegal, South Africa, Algeria, and Nigeria
The finale was an experience like never before as Esports was fused with African pop culture. Performances from famous African artists like BNXN and Blaqbonez thrilled the crowd present at the event as well as those that were streaming it live. It was electric.
Gamr Africa offers players in Nigeria and Africa the literal gold at the end of the rainbow, with its introduction, these players now have a medium through which they can “Play, connect, have fun and Earn”
But what really has got people buzzing about Gamr?
Well, for starters, Gamr has invested in gamers’ dreams and has given platforms to players to become pro gamers. The average African is not fully aware of the opportunities that are in the esports space, nor do they have a community of gamers they can connect with. Gamr Africa offers connections and a community of over 100,000 Gamrs.
Gamers will no longer miss out on tournaments or be left behind in the fast-moving world of esports and mobile gaming. Gone are the days when gaming was just for leisure and nothing else, Gamr Africa is literally “changing the game”.
Esports is an oasis for all and sundry, from gamers to entrepreneurs, there are no limits. And Gamr Africa understands this so well, ensuring that each sector of the esports venture is amply represented.
Gamr Africa also represents a forward-thinking, and inclusive entity, something the industry has too little of. Doing business with Gamr is not only a sure thing, it is a necessity, we represent the future of esports in Africa and we are a well-oiled machine capable of great things.
Let me speak plainly since Gamr Africa is also big on the facts. Gamr Africa recognizes the talent that abounds in the continent of Africa and we intend to be both a guiding light and an inspiration.
We intend to and are committed to the;
- Solving the unemployment crisis in the African continent,
- Create and nurture a culture of tech-centered entrepreneurship
- Educate and directly influence growth among young people and lastly,
- Give more people cause to not only dream but to show them the way to go to bring those dreams to fruition.
The global esports community has continued to blossom, with certainly more awareness, more tournaments and opportunities to showcase their talents and more niches for interested individuals.
Thanks to Gamr Africa, the African esports community has itself found its own breath of fresh air, after waiting so long to exhale.
