Women In eSports Initiative by Gamr

December is an excellent time for everyone to take ownership of all their successes, learn from their mistakes, and consider what they may do better moving forward.
2022 has been an eventful year for Gamr. We have again achieved a milestone with a variety of initiatives that influenced everyone, including women in esports.
Hey women, You Belong. It doesn’t matter what games you play, how long you’ve been playing, your gaming restrictions, or the gear you use at home. The industry needs and values people with your talents.

Women have been integral parts of the whole esports business ever since its start. However, esports is far too frequently innately restricted to male professionals and the intended audience of content creators.
According to a survey, 46% of gamers are women in the gaming industry, but only 20% of them identify as Latinx, 15% as Black, and 5% as Asian American. In addition, 16% identify as LGBTQIA. According to a study released this month by the Entertainment Software Association, women over the age of 18 now make up 36% of the entire population, just edging out men, who make up 35%. Teenage males, the long-desired target market for the game business, fall well behind both at barely 17%.

This awareness gave us the crucial hope to support the gaming community for women. Even though there is proof that esports and video games have a wide and diverse audience, women have typically been sidelined by the industry. In light of this challenge, we have made it our mission to advocate for the inclusion of women’s limitations in esports.
Here are a few female gamers worth knowing in esports;

QueenArrow

Kenyan-born QueenArrow is a professional gamer and a Gamr ambassador. She played “Tekken” with her boys from the time she was a young girl until 2017, when she competed in an international tournament and finished in fourth place. This event changed her narrative to demonstrate that there is no gender barrier to success. She is working with Gamr to provide more women with access to dependable and frequent tournaments, accessible infrastructure, and more international tournaments.

Amaar

Amaar is a persistent advocate for women in esports; she enjoys seeing young girls play video games and turn them into successful careers. “Esports doesn’t stop professionalism,” she likes to say. Amaar has been playing Apex Legend since she was a little girl. She first played with her family and developed into a professional gamer and content creator. She opposes gender discrimination in the game industry and backs initiatives aimed at encouraging female competition in the sector with Gamr.

Audacity

Audacity is a gaming community leader within Africa, an outlaw gamer who has been playing since she was a young child, and a talent manager who searches for both male and female talents to assist them in exploring international esports. She has been gaming since she was a kid. For gamers in Nigeria and throughout the world, she works with Gamr to develop esports awareness initiatives.

Monica

Monica is a 3x pro women’s FIFA champion in Ghana. She’s a lover of esports who believes in women taking the lead without fear of anything. She aims to inspire the next generation of female gamers to continue playing games while also pursuing professional careers in other areas of their lives. To pave the way for female representation in the major esports leagues, she engages, empowers, and elevates female gamers through the Gamr.

Gamr is ready to tackle gender inequality, combat the oppression of female gamers, and discover female gamers across Africa and the world. We will do this by supporting women and young girls in developing and growing their potential and careers within the gaming industry. We hope to urge other platforms to examine their business cultures and connect with our values that the female gender’s voices are being heard and must be heard. We are on a mission to support more women in esports by 2023.
We appreciate your support and wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
