In line with its recent pattern of discontinuing online support for older games, EA is set to turn off servers for several titles, including old editions of FIFA. As the new EA Sports FC is getting ready for launch, it means the end of server maintenance for many old titles.

With the launch of their new game and their split from FIFA, it seems the publisher is distancing itself from the FIFA series. Also, EA might prefer not to sustain the FIFA series any longer. As a result, multiple FIFA titles are set to end in 2023, with updates and online features being discontinued.

What FIFA servers are shutting down?

According to the updated Online Services Shutdown list, FIFA 18, FIFA 19, FIFA 20 and FIFA 21 servers will all be shut down from 6 November 2023. All platforms impacted include the Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC and Nintendo Switch.

This means that players will no longer be able to access online modes for any of these editions of FIFA again as of the shutdown date. However, they can still play kick-off and career offline modes whenever they like. Many fans will find the addition of FIFA 21 surprising, especially since the game was released just two years ago.

While shutting down FIFA servers after some time has become normal, the move to shut down four at once will annoy fans, especially those still active on FIFA 21. Players who want to continue enjoying the online experience will have to switch to FIFA 22, FIFA 23 or the upcoming EA Sports FC. However, it may be best to get the FIFA 23 or wait for the new EA Sports FC as it is only a matter of time before they pull the plug on FIFA 22 servers.

Additionally, FIFA is not the only game affected by this with EA planning to remove servers for games like Crysis 3, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14 and Restaurant DASH: Gordon Ramsay.
