The world of esports is bracing itself for the grandest spectacle of competitive gaming as the League of Legends World Championship for 2023 approaches. This event, known as Worlds, stands as the pinnacle of the League of Legends competition, where the finest teams from across the globe vie for supremacy. As the competitive seasons of various leagues conclude, the anticipation is palpable, with a star-studded lineup of teams steadily emerging as qualified contenders.
The start date for Worlds 2023 has been marked as October 10, slightly later than the usual September kickoff. The play-ins and group stages are scheduled to take place in Seoul, with the tournament later transitioning to Busan for the finals. The grand finals will be held at Seoul’s impressive Gocheok Sky Dome, which can accommodate up to 17,000 spectators.
Commencing this year, Worlds will introduce a fresh format, markedly distinct from previous editions, featuring comprehensive modifications, including the adoption of a Swiss-style group stage. The only segment unaffected by alterations is the Knockout stage, where the top 8 teams will engage in a single-elimination bracket.
However, preceding this phase, fans will have the opportunity to watch 22 diverse teams in action at Worlds 2023. The roster encompasses representatives from prominent regions as well as wild card entries.
