Elon Musk tested out a new game livestream feature on Twitter/X by playing Diablo 4 on his personal account, entertaining millions of viewers. Elon has talked about his love for gaming several times and even played Elden Ring for many hours after acquiring Twitter.
Musk live-streamed via his 158 million followers, in a stream that has achieved over 2.8 million overall views at the time of writing. This action reflects Musk’s aspiration to turn X into a versatile “all-in-one app” capable of accommodating a range of functions.
Musk posted a brief snippet from the hour-long stream, expressing contentment with X’s video game streaming system’s performance.
Towards the conclusion of the live stream, he announced that exclusive access to the chat feature during future live streams would be limited to Twitter Blue subscribers. Additionally, viewers will have the option to share the video and utilize picture-in-picture mode while browsing Twitter. He also revealed his plan to undertake a live challenge, aiming to conquer a Tier 100 Nightmare dungeon on the platform.
While the stream attracted a large viewership, several fans noted the lack of a live chat function and a flickering screen. With the large number of users already on X, it will likely rival Twitch in the future.
It will also be interesting to see how much content creators make through its revenue program, which was introduced two months ago. If video game streaming on X gains popularity and attracts gamers, it could affect Twitch’s popularity.
